Wendy’s Inspired Chili

Posted on January 16, 2024

Creating a Wendy’s-inspired chili at home can be a delicious and satisfying endeavor. Here’s a simple recipe for making a flavorful chili reminiscent of Wendy’s:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (14 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14 ounces) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add diced onion, green bell pepper, celery, and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, tomato sauce, and beef broth.
  4. Add chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper to the pot. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for at least 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. You can also let the chili simmer longer for even more flavor.
  7. Serve the chili hot, and garnish with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, or diced avocado.

Feel free to customize the recipe to suit your taste preferences. Wendy’s chili is known for its hearty texture and balanced flavors, so don’t hesitate to experiment and make it your own!
