Sweet Potato Wedges

Posted on January 16, 2024

Sweet potato wedges are a delicious and nutritious alternative to traditional french fries. Here’s a simple recipe to make sweet potato wedges:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for some heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes:
    • Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes thoroughly. You can leave the skin on for extra nutrition.
    • Cut the sweet potatoes into wedges. Aim for uniform thickness to ensure even cooking.
  3. Seasoning:
    • In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a uniform seasoning mixture.
  4. Coat the Sweet Potato Wedges:
    • Add the sweet potato wedges to the bowl with the seasoning mixture. Toss the wedges until they are evenly coated with the spices and oil.
  5. Arrange on Baking Sheet:
    • Place the coated sweet potato wedges on a baking sheet in a single layer. Make sure they are not overcrowded to ensure they cook evenly.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the sweet potato wedges are golden brown and crispy on the edges. Flip them halfway through the cooking time for even crispiness.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once the sweet potato wedges are done, remove them from the oven. You can garnish them with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.

These sweet potato wedges make for a tasty and wholesome side dish or snack. They are rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants, making them a healthier alternative to regular fries. Feel free to customize the seasonings based on your preferences.
