Strawberry Cream Cheese Rolls

Strawberry cream cheese rolls are a delicious and sweet pastry dish made with strawberry filling and cream cheese wrapped in soft and flaky dough. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. Here’s a basic recipe to make your own strawberry cream cheese rolls:

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 egg

For the Filling:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberry jam or preserves

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
    • In a small saucepan, heat the milk, water, and butter over low heat until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
    • Add the milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
    • Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until you have a soft and slightly sticky dough.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
    • Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
    • Roll out the dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
    • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border along one of the long edges.
    • Spread the strawberry jam over the cream cheese mixture.
    • Roll up the dough tightly from the long edge without the border, forming a log.
    • Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the slices in the greased baking dish, spacing them evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
  5. Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until you have a smooth glaze.
    • Drizzle the glaze over the warm strawberry cream cheese rolls.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the rolls cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
