Salmon patties are a delicious and versatile dish made from canned or cooked salmon. Here’s a simple recipe for making salmon patties:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14-15 ounces) of salmon, drained and flaked (or you can use cooked salmon)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, and red bell pepper (if using).
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, beaten egg, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning (if using), salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the salmon mixture and gently combine until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  4. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Place the salmon patties in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Once cooked, transfer the patties to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  8. Serve the salmon patties with your favorite sauce or accompaniments. They can be served in a bun like a burger or alongside a salad.
