PEPPERONI PIZZA CASSEROLE

Certainly! Pepperoni Pizza Casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that captures the flavors of a classic pepperoni pizza in a convenient casserole form. Here’s a simple recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (16 oz) rotini or your favorite pasta
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish.
  2. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Once cooked through, drain excess fat.
  4. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage, cooking until the onion is softened.
  5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta. Top with half of the sauce, followed by half of the sliced pepperoni and half of the shredded mozzarella.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella.
  8. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the casserole is heated through.
  10. Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
