Posted on October 14, 2023

Certainly! Old Fashioned Goulash is a comforting and hearty dish that’s easy to make. Here’s a classic recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni or any pasta of your choice
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until the onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Meanwhile, cook the elbow macaroni or pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the pot with the meat sauce, stirring to combine.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the pasta to absorb some of the sauce.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top, cover the pot, and let it sit for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Old Fashioned Goulash is perfect for a comforting family dinner and can be easily customized with your favorite seasonings and additional vegetables. Enjoy!
