Done cheese scones and fruit scones

Great! Cheese scones and fruit scones are both delicious baked treats that are enjoyed in different ways. Here’s how you can make each of them:

Cheese Scones:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the grated cheddar cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Reserve a small amount of this mixture to use as an egg wash later.
  6. Gradually add the milk and egg mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing with a fork until the dough comes together.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it’s smooth.
  8. Roll out the dough to about 1-inch thickness. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out scones and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops of the scones with the reserved egg wash.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the scones cool slightly before serving.

Fruit Scones:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (raisins, currants, or sultanas)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
