CABBAGE ROLL SKILLET

Cabbage roll skillet is a quick and easy way to enjoy theflavors  of traditional cabbage rolls without the hassle of rolling each individual leaf. Here’s a simple recipe for making cabbage roll skillet:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (you can also use ground turkey or pork)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Break it up into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage is wilted and tender.
  5. Pour in the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and tomato sauce. Mix well.
  6. Sprinkle the paprika, dried oregano, salt, and pepper over the mixture. Stir to combine.
  7. Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir to incorporate it with the other ingredients.
  8. If using cheese, sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top of the mixture.
  9. Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove the lid and let the skillet cook for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow any excess liquid to evaporate and the flavors to meld.
  11. Once the cabbage roll skillet is cooked and the cheese is melted, remove from heat.
  12. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
  13. Serve the cabbage roll skillet hot as a complete meal or with a side salad.
