Banana Bread Sticky Buns

Banana Bread Sticky Buns combine the flavors of classic banana bread with the gooey goodness of sticky buns. Here’s a delicious recipe to make these indulgent treats:

Ingredients:

For the Banana Bread Dough:

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Sticky Bun Filling:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

For the Sticky Bun Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions:

For the Banana Bread Dough:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Roll it into a rectangle approximately 12×8 inches in size.

For the Sticky Bun Filling:

  1. Brush the melted butter evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough. If you’re using nuts, sprinkle them over the sugar mixture.
  3. Starting from one long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log.
  4. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.

For the Sticky Bun Glaze:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and honey. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil, then remove it from the heat.

Assembly and Baking:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the sticky bun glaze into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  3. Place the banana bread sticky bun slices on top of the glaze, spacing them evenly.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Allow the sticky buns to cool in the dish for a few minutes, then carefully invert the pan onto a serving platter or tray. Be cautious as the glaze will be hot and sticky.
  6. Serve the banana bread sticky buns warm. Enjoy the gooey, banana-infused goodness!
