Posted on November 9, 2023

Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines ground beef, noodles, and a savory Mongolian-inspired sauce. Here’s a basic recipe for making this tasty meal:

Ingredients:

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

For the noodles and beef:

  • 8 ounces of your favorite noodles (such as udon, rice noodles, or egg noodles)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (any color), thinly sliced
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Sliced red chili pepper, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set them aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. This is your Mongolian sauce.
  3. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. This will be used to thicken the sauce.
  4. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it’s browned and crumbled. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
  5. Add the sliced onions and bell pepper to the skillet and stir-fry for a few minutes until they begin to soften.
  6. Pour the Mongolian sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
  7. Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss everything together to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat the noodles through.
  9. Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more soy sauce or brown sugar to your liking.
  10. Serve the Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles hot, garnished with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and sliced red chili peppers if you like some extra heat.

Enjoy your homemade Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles! This recipe is quite flexible, so feel free to customize it with your favorite vegetables or protein sources to suit your preferences.
