Certainly! Here’s a simple recipe for Chinese egg rolls:

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of egg roll wrappers (usually available in the refrigerated section of the grocery store)
  • 1/2 pound ground pork or chicken
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 2-3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork or chicken until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add shredded cabbage, carrots, and chopped green onions to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend. Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Lay out an egg roll wrapper with one corner pointing towards you. Place a couple of tablespoons of the filling in the center of the wrapper.
  6. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll it up tightly into a cylinder shape. Seal the top corner with a little water.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry the egg rolls in batches until they are golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking. This should take about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  9. Remove the egg rolls and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  10. Serve the Chinese egg rolls hot with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
