Crispy Potato & Cheese Bombs with Garlic Butter

Posted on February 23, 2025

Crispy Potato & Cheese Bombs with Garlic Butter sound delicious! Here’s a simple recipe to try making these savory treats at home:

Ingredients:

  • For the Potato Filling:
    • 4 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
    • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
    • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • For the Coating:
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 egg (beaten)
    • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works well for extra crunch)
  • For the Garlic Butter:
    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
    • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, green onions, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until everything is well combined.
  2. Shape the Bombs:

    • Take a small portion of the potato mixture and roll it into a ball. Make an indentation in the center and stuff with more cheese (about a teaspoon). Then, seal the ball around the cheese and roll it into a smooth ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used up.
  3. Coat the Bombs:

    • Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten egg, and one with breadcrumbs.
    • Roll each potato ball first in the flour, then dip in the egg, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.
  4. Fry the Bombs:

    • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Carefully place the coated potato balls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. Prepare the Garlic Butter:

    • In a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Stir in the chopped parsley and a pinch of salt.
  6. Serve:

    • Drizzle the garlic butter over the crispy potato and cheese bombs. Serve hot and enjoy the melty, cheesy goodness!
