🌮 Crispy Fish Tacos with Cilantro Lime Slaw

🐟 Ingredients:

For the Fish:

  • 1 lb white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or haddock)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Oil for frying

For the Cilantro Lime Slaw:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (green or a mix)

  • ½ cup shredded carrots

  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp sour cream

  • ½ tsp honey (optional)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

To Serve:

  • Corn or flour tortillas

  • Lime wedges

  • Sliced avocado or guacamole (optional)

  • Hot sauce or chipotle mayo (optional)


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Slaw:

    • In a bowl, mix cabbage, carrots, and cilantro.

    • In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, mayo, sour cream, honey, salt, and pepper.

    • Toss with the cabbage mix. Chill until ready to serve.

  2. Prepare the Fish:

    • Cut fish into taco-size strips.

    • Set up a breading station: one bowl flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko + seasonings (garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper).

    • Dredge each piece in flour, then egg, then panko.

  3. Cook the Fish:

    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Fry fish pieces until golden and crispy (about 2-3 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels.

  4. Assemble Tacos:

    • Warm tortillas.

    • Layer slaw, crispy fish, avocado, and optional toppings.

    • Squeeze fresh lime on top and enjoy!
