CREAMY BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE

Certainly! Here’s a simple recipe for creamy baked macaroni and cheese:

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (about 2 cups) elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, mustard, and garlic powder until well combined to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture thickens, usually about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, and add in the shredded cheddar cheese and Parmesan. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, mixing until the pasta is evenly coated.
  7. If you like a crunchy topping, transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.
