Blackberry White Chocolate Stracciatella

Posted on July 29, 2024

Here’s a delightful recipe for Blackberry White Chocolate Stracciatella. This elegant and refreshing dessert combines the tartness of blackberries with the creamy sweetness of white chocolate, making it a perfect treat for warm days or special occasions.

Ingredients

For the Blackberry Sauce:

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries (or frozen, thawed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Stracciatella:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate, finely chopped

Instructions

Prepare the Blackberry Sauce:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the blackberries release their juices and the mixture begins to thicken, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and strain the sauce through a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds. Let it cool to room temperature.

Prepare the Stracciatella:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Add the White Chocolate Stracciatella:

  1. While the ice cream is churning, melt the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water, or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently until smooth.
  2. Once the ice cream has reached a soft-serve consistency, slowly drizzle the melted white chocolate into the ice cream while the machine is running. The cold ice cream will cause the chocolate to harden and form thin, crunchy ribbons.

Combine and Freeze:

  1. In a freezer-safe container, layer the churned stracciatella ice cream with spoonfuls of the blackberry sauce.
  2. Use a knife or spatula to gently swirl the sauce through the ice cream, creating a marbled effect.
  3. Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Serve:

  1. Scoop the Blackberry White Chocolate Stracciatella into bowls or cones.
  2. Optionally, garnish with fresh blackberries and a sprig of mint for an extra touch.

Enjoy your homemade Blackberry White Chocolate Stracciatella!
