BBQ ribs are a delicious and popular dish, known for their tender, juicy meat coated in flavorful barbecue sauce. There are different ways to prepare them, but the basic steps involve slow-cooking or grilling them until the meat is tender and flavorful.
Here’s a simple BBQ ribs recipe:
Ingredients:
-
2 racks of pork ribs
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
1/4 cup brown sugar
-
2 tbsp paprika
-
1 tbsp garlic powder
-
1 tbsp onion powder
-
1 tbsp chili powder
-
1 tsp ground cumin
-
1 tsp salt
-
1/2 tsp black pepper
-
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for some heat)
-
1-2 cups of your favorite BBQ sauce
Instructions:
-
Prep the Ribs:
-
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (this can be done by loosening it with a knife and pulling it off).
-
Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
-
-
Make the Rub:
-
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
-
Rub the spice mixture all over both sides of the ribs. Press it into the meat to ensure it sticks.
-
-
Cook the Ribs:
-
Preheat your grill or oven. For the grill, set it up for indirect heat (i.e., a cooler side to cook the ribs on). If you’re using an oven, preheat it to 275°F (135°C).
-
Place the ribs on the grill or in the oven on a baking sheet lined with foil. If grilling, close the lid and cook for about 2-2.5 hours, flipping halfway through. If baking, cook for about 2.5-3 hours, until the meat is tender and pulling away from the bones.
-
-
Add BBQ Sauce:
-
About 15 minutes before the ribs are done, brush them with your BBQ sauce on both sides. You can also do this a couple of times during the last stage of cooking for a thicker sauce layer.
-
-
Finish and Serve:
-
Once the ribs are tender and caramelized with the BBQ sauce, remove them from the grill or oven and let them rest for a few minutes before cutting them into individual ribs.
-
Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
-
Enjoy your BBQ ribs with some sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or grilled vegetables!
