Cinnamon Apple Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients:

  • For the cookies:
    • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tsp cream of tartar
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped apples (about 1 small apple, peeled and cored)
  • For the cinnamon-sugar coating:
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the finely chopped apples.
  5. Make the cinnamon-sugar coating: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
  6. Form the cookies: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Then, roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, making sure it’s fully coated.
  7. Bake the cookies: Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies have a slight golden color.
  8. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Serve and enjoy! The cookies will have a soft, chewy texture with a perfect balance of cinnamon and apple flavor!

These cookies are perfect for the fall season and are sure to be a hit with family and friends. Enjoy!
