Healthy Cookies – No Sugar, No Flour!

Posted on November 30, 2024
Making healthy cookies without sugar and flour is totally possible, and they can still be delicious! Here’s a simple recipe that uses natural sweeteners and healthier alternatives to traditional cookie ingredients:

Healthy Cookies (No Sugar, No Flour)

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed, act as a natural sweetener)
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats (or oat flour, if you prefer a softer texture)
  • 1/4 cup almond butter (or any nut/seed butter of your choice)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (adds moisture and sweetness)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda (optional, for lightness)
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped nuts (optional, for texture)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Add the almond butter, applesauce, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas, and mix well.
  4. Stir in the rolled oats, cinnamon, and baking soda (if using). Mix until everything is well combined. If you’d like, fold in chocolate chips or nuts for added texture.
  5. Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Flatten the tops slightly with the back of the spoon.
  6. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown on the edges.
  7. Let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy your healthy cookies!

Notes:

  • Sweeteners: Bananas and applesauce provide natural sweetness, so no added sugar is needed. You can add a little stevia or monk fruit if you want them sweeter.
  • Flour Alternatives: Oats are used in place of flour, making these cookies gluten-free if you use certified gluten-free oats.
  • Customization: You can add dried fruit like raisins or cranberries, or seeds like chia or flax for added health benefits.

These cookies are perfect for a healthy snack or a light dessert!
