🍰 White German Chocolate Cake with Cheesecake

Components:

  1. White Chocolate Cake Layers

  2. Classic Cheesecake Layer

  3. Coconut-Pecan German Chocolate Filling

  4. White Chocolate Ganache or Frosting


1. White Chocolate Cake Layers

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 ¾ cups sugar

  • 4 large egg whites

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp almond extract (optional)

  • 4 oz white chocolate, melted and slightly cooled

  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.

  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.

  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

  4. Add egg whites one at a time, then vanilla and almond extracts.

  5. Stir in melted white chocolate.

  6. Alternately mix in flour mixture and milk. Don’t overmix.

  7. Divide into pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.


2. Classic Cheesecake Layer

Ingredients:

  • 2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).

  2. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth.

  3. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and sour cream.

  4. Pour into a greased 9-inch springform pan.

  5. Bake 40–45 minutes or until the center is nearly set.

  6. Cool completely and chill for several hours or overnight.


3. Coconut-Pecan German Chocolate Filling

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup evaporated milk

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 3 large egg yolks

  • ½ cup unsalted butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups sweetened shredded coconut

  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, yolks, and butter over medium heat until thickened (10–12 minutes).

  2. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla, coconut, and pecans.

  3. Cool to room temperature.


4. White Chocolate Ganache (optional frosting)

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz white chocolate, chopped

  • ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Heat cream to just before boiling.

  2. Pour over white chocolate and let sit 2 minutes.

  3. Stir until smooth. Let it cool until spreadable.

  1. Layer 1: White chocolate cake layer

  2. Layer 2: Cheesecake

  3. Layer 3: German chocolate filling spread over cheesecake

  4. Layer 4: Second cake layer

  5. Top & sides: Frost with white chocolate ganache or more coconut-pecan filling
