Here’s a fun and sweet Cotton Candy Popcorn recipe — perfect for parties, movie nights, or just a playful snack!
Cotton Candy Popcorn
Ingredients:
-
10 cups plain popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1/4 cup light corn syrup
-
1/4 cup water
-
1/4 tsp salt
-
1/2 tsp cotton candy flavoring (LorAnn Oils or similar)
-
Food coloring (pink, blue, or both)
-
Optional: sprinkles or crushed cotton candy for topping
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
-
Pop the popcorn and place it in a large mixing bowl. Make sure to remove any unpopped kernels.
-
In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
-
Once boiling, stop stirring and let it cook for about 4–5 minutes until it reaches the soft-ball stage (235–240°F on a candy thermometer).
-
Remove from heat. Quickly stir in the cotton candy flavoring and a few drops of your chosen food coloring.
-
Immediately pour the syrup over the popcorn and toss gently with a spatula until well coated.
-
Spread popcorn onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
-
Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to help dry and crisp it up.
-
Let cool completely before breaking apart and serving. Optionally, sprinkle with edible glitter or candy bits!
