Here’s a delicious and easy-to-follow chocolate cake recipe that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Enjoy baking and indulging in this rich, moist, and decadent treat!

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240ml) boiling water

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 and 1/2 cups (440g) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream

Instructions

For the Cake:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  3. Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed until smooth and well combined.
  4. Boiling Water: Gradually add the boiling water to the batter, mixing on low speed until combined. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool: Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Frosting:

  1. Cream Butter: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until creamy and smooth.
  2. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beating on low speed until combined.
  3. Mix: Add the salt, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add a little more cream; if it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar.
  4. Assemble: Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a generous amount of frosting on top of one cake layer. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  5. Decorate: Decorate as desired. You can add chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or other decorations to make the cake look extra special.

Tips

  • Ensure your ingredients are at room temperature for the best results.
  • For an extra moist cake, you can brush the layers with a simple syrup before frosting.
  • This cake pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Enjoy your homemade chocolate cake!
