Posted on February 2, 2024 by admin

Taco wontons are a creative fusion of Mexican and Chinese cuisines, combining the flavors of tacos with the crispy texture of wontons. Here’s a simple recipe for making taco wontons:

Ingredients:

  • Wonton wrappers
  • Ground beef or ground turkey
  • Taco seasoning
  • Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Mexican blend)
  • Salsa
  • Sour cream
  • Chopped lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Ground Meat:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until fully browned.
    • Drain excess fat, if any.
  2. Season the Meat:
    • Add taco seasoning to the cooked meat according to the package instructions.
    • Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  3. Prepare Wonton Wrappers:
    • Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
    • Spoon a small amount of the seasoned meat onto the center of each wonton wrapper.
  4. Add Toppings:
    • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the meat.
    • Add a small spoonful of salsa, chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and any other taco toppings you prefer.
  5. Fold and Seal:
    • Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with a little water using your fingertip.
    • Fold the wonton wrapper over the filling to create a triangle or any desired shape.
    • Press the edges to seal.
  6. Cook the Wontons:
    • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat or preheat an oven.
    • If pan-frying, cook the wontons for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
    • If baking, place the wontons on a baking sheet and bake according to the wonton wrapper package instructions.
  7. Serve:
    • Once the wontons are cooked, remove them from the heat.
    • Serve with additional salsa, sour cream, or any other desired dipping sauces.

Enjoy your delicious taco wontons as a unique and flavorful appetizer or snack! Feel free to customize the recipe with your favorite taco ingredients and experiment with different shapes for the wontons.
