Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 12 oz (340g) pasta (penne or rotini work great)

  • 1 lb (450g) sausage (smoked sausage, Italian sausage, or even chicken sausage)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp sriracha (optional for heat)

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or pasta water

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese

  • Green onions or parsley, chopped for garnish


Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:

    • Boil pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside (reserve 1/2 cup pasta water if not using broth).

  2. Cook the Sausage:

    • While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

    • Slice sausage into rounds and sauté until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.

  3. Make the Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

    • Add honey, soy sauce, ketchup, sriracha (if using), and chicken broth or reserved pasta water.

    • Simmer for 3–5 minutes until it starts to thicken slightly.

  4. Combine Everything:

    • Return sausage to the skillet, then add cooked pasta.

    • Stir to coat everything in the sticky sauce.

    • Sprinkle cheese over the top and cover until melted (about 2–3 mins).

  5. Serve:

    • Garnish with green onions or parsley and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired.
