Steamed Chicken & Vegetables Dumplings

Steamed chicken and vegetable dumplings are a delicious and healthy dish often enjoyed in various Asian cuisines. Here’s a simple recipe to make them:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 cups finely chopped vegetables (such as cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, and/or bell peppers)
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Round dumpling wrappers
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped vegetables, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Assemble Dumplings:
    • Take a dumpling wrapper and place a small amount (about 1 tablespoon) of the filling in the center.
    • Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water using your fingertip.
    • Fold the wrapper in half to form a half-moon shape, pressing the edges together to seal. You can crimp the edges for decoration if desired. Repeat until all filling is used.
  3. Steam Dumplings:
    • Prepare a steamer basket by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
    • Arrange the dumplings in the steamer basket, making sure they are not touching each other.
    • Place the steamer basket over a pot of boiling water, ensuring the water does not touch the dumplings.
    • Steam the dumplings for about 10-12 minutes or until cooked through. The wrappers should appear translucent, and the filling should be firm.
  4. Serve:
    • Once cooked, carefully remove the dumplings from the steamer basket and transfer them to a serving plate.
    • Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
    • Serve hot with dipping sauce of your choice, such as soy sauce, chili oil, or a combination of soy sauce and rice vinegar.
