Spanish Bread

Posted on April 18, 2024 by admin

Spanish bread, also known as “Pan de España,” is a traditional Spanish cake-like bread. Here’s a basic recipe to make Spanish bread at home:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
  • Confectioners’ sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. You can use a hand mixer or stand mixer for this step.
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, mixing until well combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. If using lemon zest, fold it into the batter gently until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, you can dust the top of the bread with confectioners’ sugar for a decorative touch.
  9. Slice and serve your Spanish bread as desired. It’s perfect with a cup of coffee or tea!

Feel free to customize this recipe by adding nuts, chocolate chips, or other flavorings to suit your taste preferences. Enjoy your homemade Spanish bread!
