Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Sure thing! Here’s a simple Slow Cooker Swiss Steak recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds round steak, cut into serving-size pieces
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge the steak pieces in the flour mixture, coating evenly.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Brown the steak pieces on both sides, working in batches if necessary. Transfer the browned steak to the slow cooker.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and minced garlic. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant. Add the diced tomatoes, beef broth (or water), Worcestershire sauce, paprika, thyme, oregano, and rosemary. Stir well to combine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Pour the tomato mixture over the steak pieces in the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or until the steak is tender.
  6. Serve the Swiss steak with the tomato gravy spooned over the top. You can serve it with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, and your favorite steamed vegetables.
