SLICED BAKED POTATOES

Sliced baked potatoes are a delicious and popular side dish made from thinly sliced potatoes that are seasoned and baked until they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Here’s a basic recipe for making sliced baked potatoes:

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes (russet or Yukon Gold potatoes work well)
  • Olive oil or melted butter
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional seasonings (garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, rosemary, thyme, grated Parmesan cheese, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. You can peel them if you prefer, but leaving the skin on adds texture and flavor.
  3. Slice the potatoes into thin rounds, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. You can use a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer for even and consistent slices.
  4. Place the sliced potatoes in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil or melted butter. Toss the potatoes to ensure they are evenly coated with the fat.
  5. Season the potatoes with salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings you like. Be creative with your choices to suit your taste preferences.
  6. Arrange the seasoned potato slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or greased with cooking spray. Make sure not to overcrowd the slices, as this will help them crisp up better.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the edges. You may want to flip the slices halfway through the baking time to ensure even cooking.
  8. Once the sliced baked potatoes are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with additional seasonings or herbs if desired, and serve them as a tasty side dish with sour cream, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
