Ingredients:

For the Swedish Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. Make the Swedish Meatballs:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
    • Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Noodles:
    • Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  4. Make the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet used for the meatballs, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
    • Gradually whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
    • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Assemble the Bake:
    • Spread half of the cooked egg noodles in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
    • Arrange the cooked meatballs on top of the noodles.
    • Pour the sauce evenly over the meatballs and noodles.
    • Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the top.
  6. Bake:
    • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
