Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for potato and meat rolls:

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground meat (beef, pork, or chicken)
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for sautéing)

For the Roll:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Filling

  1. Cook the Potatoes: Boil the diced potatoes in salted water until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and mash them.
  2. Sauté the Onions and Garlic: In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Cook the Meat: Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Combine: In a bowl, mix the cooked meat, sautéed onions, garlic, mashed potatoes, and parsley. Let it cool slightly.

Step 2: Prepare the Dough

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Step 3: Assemble the Rolls

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Add Filling: Spread the potato and meat filling evenly over the dough.
  4. Roll Up: Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough up to form a log. Pinch the edges to seal.
  5. Cut into Rolls: Slice the log into 1-inch pieces and place them on a greased baking sheet.

Step 4: Bake

  1. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Serve: Let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Tips

  • You can add spices or herbs to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or a side salad.
