pineapple fried chicken wings

Pineapple fried chicken wings are a delicious fusion dish that combines the sweet and tangy flavor of pineapple with the savory taste of fried chicken wings. Here’s a simple recipe to make them:

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split at the joint and tips discarded
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine pineapple juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well to combine.
  2. Add the chicken wings to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Once marinated, remove the chicken wings from the bowl and let excess marinade drip off.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with salt and additional black pepper if desired.
  5. Dredge each chicken wing in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully add the chicken wings to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes per batch.
  8. Once cooked, transfer the fried chicken wings to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve the pineapple fried chicken wings hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. They pair well with rice or a side of vegetables.
