Pimento cheese sauce

Here’s a simple pimento cheese sauce recipe that is rich, creamy, and full of Southern flavor. It’s great for drizzling over vegetables, nachos, or even burgers.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup diced pimentos (drained)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for a little heat)
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional, depending on heat preference)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream (for desired consistency)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the Base: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  2. Add Cheese: Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until it melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
  3. Add Pimentos & Seasoning: Stir in the diced pimentos, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and hot sauce. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Adjust Consistency: Slowly stir in milk or cream, a little at a time, to reach your desired consistency. Add more if you want a thinner sauce.
  5. Season to Taste: Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
  6. Serve Warm: Keep the sauce warm and serve it over your favorite dishes.
