Here’s a delicious pan-banging chocolate chip cookie recipe for you! These cookies are thick, chewy, and perfect with the added twist of “pan-banging” to create that irresistible crispy edge.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (2 sticks, 230g) unsalted butter, room temperature

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 cups (340g) semisweet chocolate chips

  • Flaky sea salt (like Maldon), for topping

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Oven and Pan:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream the Butter and Sugars:

    • In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:

    • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

  5. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

    • Stir in the chocolate chips.

  6. Shape the Cookie Dough:

    • Use a cookie scoop (or spoon) to form dough balls about 2 tablespoons in size and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  7. Bake the Cookies:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden, and the centers are slightly undercooked (they will continue to cook on the baking sheet).

  8. Pan-Banging:

    • As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, immediately bang the baking sheet on the counter a few times (about 3-4 times) to create a crackled, thick edge.

    • Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes to firm up before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Finish with Flaky Sea Salt:

    • Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie while they are still warm.
