Here’s a classic recipe for Old Fashioned Pancakes:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Butter or oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
    • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract if using.
  3. Combine Ingredients:
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy; do not overmix.
  4. Preheat and Grease Pan:
    • Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Grease lightly with butter or oil.
  5. Cook Pancakes:
    • Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook until the other side is golden brown, about 1-2 minutes more.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, butter, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
