New York-style cheesecake

Here’s a classic New York-style cheesecake recipe that’s bound to impress:

New York-Style Cheesecake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Crust:
    • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Filling:
    • 4 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
    • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 4 large eggs, room temperature
    • 2/3 cup sour cream
    • 2/3 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Make the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press the mixture evenly onto the bottom of the prepared springform pan. Use the bottom of a measuring cup to press the crust firmly. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool while you prepare the filling.
  3. Make the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add the sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Add the Sour Cream and Heavy Cream: Stir in the sour cream and heavy cream until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Bake the Cheesecake: Pour the filling over the cooled crust in the springform pan. Tap the pan gently on the counter to release any air bubbles. Place the springform pan on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
  6. Cooling Process: Turn off the oven, crack the oven door open, and let the cheesecake cool inside the oven for 1 hour. This helps prevent cracking. After 1 hour, remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
  7. Serve: When ready to serve, carefully remove the sides of the springform pan. Slice the cheesecake into wedges and serve with your favorite toppings such as fresh berries, whipped cream, or fruit compote.
