Mississippi Mud Potatoes is a delicious Southern-style dish typically made with potatoes, cheese, bacon, and sometimes onions or other seasonings. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes, washed and sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Arrange the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the potatoes.
  4. Add the crumbled bacon on top of the cheese layer. If using green onions, sprinkle them over the bacon.
  5. Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the dish.
  7. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top for added texture.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes.
  9. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Enjoy your cheesy, bacon-filled Mississippi Mud Potatoes! They make a great side dish for any meal.
