Sure, here’s a classic Lo Mein recipe for you to enjoy:

Ingredients:

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water

For the stir-fry:

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles (or any thin egg noodles)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (any color)
  • 1 cup snow peas or snap peas
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 lb protein of your choice (chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu), thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and chicken broth. Set aside.
  2. Cook the noodles:
    • Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Stir-fry the protein:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the protein and cook until it’s fully cooked (about 3-5 minutes). Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. Stir-fry the vegetables:
    • In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Add the onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, peas, carrots, broccoli, and cabbage. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Combine everything:
    • Add the cooked protein back into the pan with the vegetables. Pour the sauce over the mixture and toss to coat everything evenly.
    • Add the cooked noodles and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce is evenly distributed.
  6. Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.

Enjoy your homemade Lo Mein!
