Certainly! Here’s a classic recipe for Lasagna Bolognese:

Ingredients:

For the Bolognese Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 can (14 ounces/400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) beef broth
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) red wine (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 bay leaf

For the Lasagna:

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups (500g) ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Bolognese Sauce:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the carrot and celery and cook for another 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, red wine (if using), salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

2. Cook the Lasagna Noodles:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

3. Assemble the Lasagna:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread a thin layer of Bolognese sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  4. Spread a layer of ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by a layer of Bolognese sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers – noodles, ricotta cheese, Bolognese sauce, and Parmesan cheese – until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of Bolognese sauce on top.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the lasagna.

4. Bake:

  1. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  3. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  4. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired, before serving.

Enjoy your delicious Lasagna Bolognese!
