Key Lime Pie

Posted on April 15, 2024 by admin

Certainly! Here’s a classic recipe for Key Lime Pie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh key lime juice (about 20-25 key limes)
  • Zest of 1-2 key limes (optional)
  • Whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until well combined and the mixture resembles wet sand.
  3. Press the crumb mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish, forming an even crust.
  4. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  5. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the key lime juice to the egg mixture, whisking constantly until well combined. If desired, stir in the key lime zest for extra flavor.
  7. Pour the key lime filling into the baked crust and spread it out evenly.
  8. Return the pie to the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate the pie for at least 2-3 hours, or until chilled and set.
  10. Once chilled, slice the pie and serve it with whipped cream on top if desired. Enjoy your homemade Key Lime Pie!

Feel free to adjust the sweetness or tartness according to your preference by varying the amount of sugar or lime juice. Enjoy!
