Irresistible Turkish Garlic Pan Bread

Making irresistible Turkish garlic pan bread is a delightful and relatively simple process. Here’s a recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

2. Prepare the Garlic Butter:

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Add minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Stir in chopped parsley and salt. Remove from heat.

3. Shape and Cook the Bread:

  1. Preheat a skillet or pan over medium heat.
  2. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small portions, shaping each into a ball.
  3. Roll out each ball into a thin circle (about 8 inches in diameter).
  4. Place the rolled-out dough in the preheated pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until it puffs up and gets golden brown spots.
  5. Brush each side of the bread with the prepared garlic butter while it’s still hot.

4. Serve:

  1. Stack the garlic pan breads on a plate, and serve them warm.
  2. You can also sprinkle some additional chopped parsley or grated Parmesan cheese on top for extra flavor.
