Here’s a fun and easy Homemade Rainbow Bouncy Balls recipe — great for a science craft or rainy day activity!
🌈 Homemade Rainbow Bouncy Balls
Materials:
-
1/2 tsp Borax powder
-
1 tbsp Cornstarch
-
2 tbsp Warm water
-
1 tbsp Clear or white glue (like Elmer’s)
-
Food coloring (various rainbow colors)
-
Small cups or bowls
-
Spoon or craft stick for stirring
-
Disposable gloves (optional)
-
Zip-top bag (for storage)
🧪 Instructions:
You’ll make one color at a time. Repeat for each rainbow color.
Step 1: Make Borax Solution
In a small cup, combine:
-
2 tbsp warm water
-
1/2 tsp borax
Stir until dissolved.
Step 2: Mix Glue & Color
In a separate cup, mix:
-
1 tbsp glue
-
A few drops of food coloring
-
1 tbsp cornstarch
Stir until smooth.
Step 3: Combine & Form Ball
Pour the colored glue mixture into the borax solution. Let it sit for 10–15 seconds, then stir. It will start to harden into a gooey blob.
Remove it and knead it in your hands. It will get less sticky and form a ball as you roll it. (Wear gloves to avoid staining.)
🌀 Rainbow Effect:
Repeat the above process with different colors. Once each color is formed into a mini ball, press them together to form a swirled rainbow ball. Gently roll between your palms to blend them slightly, but don’t overmix or colors will muddy.
