Here’s a solid homemade pizza recipe that’ll give you a crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and all the cheesy goodness you could want. You can tweak it however you like with your favorite toppings.


🍕 Homemade Pizza Recipe (Classic Margherita Style)

🔸 Dough (Makes 2 medium pizzas)

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups (450g) all-purpose flour (or bread flour for chewier texture)

  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

  • 1 ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 ¼ cups warm water (about 100–110°F / 38–43°C)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, then sprinkle in the yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

  5. Punch down, divide in two, and let rest for 10 minutes before rolling out.


🔸 Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes (or whole peeled, blended)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Optional: pinch of sugar or chili flakes

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan. Add garlic and sauté briefly.

  2. Add tomatoes, oregano, and salt. Simmer for 15–20 minutes until slightly thickened.


🔸 Toppings (for Margherita)

  • Fresh mozzarella (sliced or torn)

  • Fresh basil leaves

  • Olive oil (for drizzling)

  • Grated Parmesan (optional)

  • Crushed red pepper (optional)


🔸 Assembly

  1. Preheat oven to 475–500°F (245–260°C). If you have a pizza stone, preheat it too.

  2. Roll out the dough on parchment or a lightly floured surface.

  3. Spread a thin layer of sauce, add mozzarella, and a few basil leaves.

  4. Drizzle with olive oil.

  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

  6. Let it cool for a minute, then add more fresh basil if desired.
