Homemade Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread

Posted on February 2, 2025

That sounds delicious! Are you making it from scratch? Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread combines the best of both worlds: the savory goodness of a Philly cheesesteak and the indulgence of cheesy bread. If you’re looking for a recipe, I can help with that! Here’s a simple take:

Homemade Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of Italian or French bread (sliced in half lengthwise)
  • 1 lb rib-eye steak (thinly sliced)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup provolone cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional, for a creamier texture)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the steak:
    • Heat a little olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced rib-eye steak and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
    • Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  2. Cook the veggies:
    • In the same pan, add butter and sauté the onions and bell peppers until they’re soft and slightly caramelized (about 5-7 minutes). Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble the bread:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Lay your sliced bread on a baking sheet. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise (optional) on the bread for added creaminess.
    • Layer the cooked steak, sautéed onions, and peppers on top of the bread.
  4. Top with cheese:
    • Generously sprinkle both provolone and mozzarella cheese over the steak and veggies.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the bread in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are slightly crispy.
  6. Serve:
    • Slice the cheesy bread into pieces and enjoy your homemade Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread!
