Here’s a soft and fluffy Homemade Dinner Rolls recipe—perfect for any meal!

🍞 Homemade Dinner Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 large egg

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (more if needed)

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. Activate the yeast:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Make the dough:

    • Add remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, egg, and 3 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.

    • Gradually add the remaining flour, ¼ cup at a time, until dough pulls away from the sides but is still slightly sticky.

  3. Knead:

    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes (or 5 minutes using a stand mixer with a dough hook) until smooth and elastic.

  4. First rise:

    • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. Shape the rolls:

    • Punch down dough, divide into 12–15 equal pieces, and shape into balls. Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  6. Second rise:

    • Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes, until puffy.

  7. Bake:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown on top.

  8. Finish:

    • Brush hot rolls with melted butter right out of the oven for a glossy, tender finish.
