Homemade Cheesy Pizza Pockets

Posted on January 10, 2025 by admin
Making homemade cheesy pizza pockets is a fun and easy way to enjoy a delicious snack or meal! Here’s a simple recipe to make your own cheesy pizza pockets from scratch:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of pizza dough (or homemade dough)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup pizza sauce (or marinara sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup pepperoni (or any other pizza toppings you prefer, such as cooked sausage, mushrooms, or bell peppers)
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Salt to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Dough: If using store-bought pizza dough, unroll it onto a lightly floured surface. If using homemade dough, roll it out to about ¼-inch thickness and cut into 4-6 squares or circles, depending on the size of your pockets.
  3. Fill the Pockets: On each dough piece, place about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce in the center. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese, some grated Parmesan cheese, and your choice of pizza toppings like pepperoni, sausage, or vegetables. Sprinkle a little oregano and garlic powder for added flavor.
  4. Seal the Edges: Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket and press the edges together using your fingers or a fork to seal them tightly.
  5. Brush with Olive Oil: Brush each pocket lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt and optional red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
  6. Bake: Place the pizza pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  7. Serve: Let the pizza pockets cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy them with extra pizza sauce for dipping!

Tips:

  • For a crispy crust, brush the pockets with melted butter or garlic butter instead of olive oil.
  • You can make these ahead of time and freeze them before baking for a quick snack later.
  • Get creative with your toppings—use your favorite pizza ingredients!

Enjoy your homemade cheesy pizza pockets!
