Home made simple biscuits recipe

Posted on April 18, 2024 by admin

Sure, here’s a simple recipe for homemade biscuits:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. You want some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.
  4. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk. Stir gently with a wooden spoon or spatula until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it a few times until it holds together. Pat the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
  6. Using a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass, cut out rounds of dough. Place the rounds onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  7. Gather any remaining dough scraps, gently pat them together, and cut out more rounds until all the dough is used.
  8. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
  9. Remove the biscuits from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.

Enjoy your homemade biscuits warm with butter, jam, or your favorite topping!
