Posted on May 12, 2025 by admin

Sure! Here’s a classic “Grandma’s Potatoes” recipe—creamy, cheesy, and comforting. This version is often found at family gatherings, holidays, or Sunday dinners.

Grandma’s Cheesy Baked Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 6–8 medium russet potatoes (or use frozen hash browns, about 32 oz)

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom)

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional topping: crushed cornflakes or breadcrumbs mixed with 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare potatoes:

    • If using fresh potatoes: Peel, boil until just tender, and shred or dice.

    • If using frozen hash browns: Thaw completely and drain excess moisture.

  3. Mix the base:

    • In a large bowl, combine soup, sour cream, cheese, onion, melted butter, salt, and pepper.

  4. Add potatoes to the mixture and stir until well combined.

  5. Spread into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  6. Optional topping: Sprinkle with crushed cornflakes or breadcrumbs and drizzle with a little melted butter.

  7. Bake uncovered for 45–60 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
