Garlic Buns Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until the dough comes together.
    3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook for about 5-7 minutes.
    4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Buns:
    1. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
    2. Roll each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.
    3. Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
  3. Prepare the Garlic Butter:
    1. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley (if using), and salt.
  4. Bake the Buns:
    1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    2. Brush the buns generously with the garlic butter mixture.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.
  5. Final Touch:
    1. Once the buns are out of the oven, brush them again with any remaining garlic butter for extra flavor.
    2. Let them cool slightly before serving.
