Garlic bread meatballs are a delicious and indulgent dish that combines the flavors of meatballs with the classic taste of garlic bread. Here’s a recipe to make garlic bread meatballs:

Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef (or a mixture of beef and pork)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Garlic Bread Coating:

  • 1 baguette or Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Serving:

  • Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into small meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside. Make sure to turn them halfway through for even browning.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the garlic bread coating. In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  6. Slice the baguette or Italian bread in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  7. Once the meatballs are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Place the meatballs on one half of the garlic buttered bread. Top them with the other half of the bread, creating a sandwich.
  9. Wrap the garlic bread meatball sandwich in aluminum foil and place it back in the oven for about 10-15 minutes or until the bread is crispy and the garlic butter has melted.
  10. Remove from the oven, slice into individual servings, and serve hot. You can also serve it with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
