Garbage Bread

Posted on June 17, 2025

Garbage Bread is a fun and delicious stuffed bread that uses up leftovers or a mix of meats, cheeses, and veggies — all wrapped up in pizza dough or crescent roll dough. Despite the name, there’s nothing trashy about the taste!

🔥 Classic Garbage Bread Recipe

🧀 Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1/2 pound ground beef or sausage, cooked and drained

  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 small onion, diced

  • 1/2 green pepper, diced

  • 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • Olive oil (for brushing)

  • Parmesan cheese (optional)

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.

  3. Spread the sauce in the center of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.

  4. Add fillings: layer cooked beef, pepperoni, veggies, and cheeses.

  5. Sprinkle seasoning evenly over the top.

  6. Roll it up jelly-roll style from the long side, then pinch the seams shut.

  7. Transfer to the baking sheet seam-side down. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan if using.

  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

  9. Cool slightly, then slice and serve with extra sauce for dipping.
