Funnel Cake Bites Recipe

If you love the classic funnel cake, but want a fun, bite-sized version, these Funnel Cake Bites are the perfect treat! They’re crispy, sweet, and dusted with powdered sugar. Here’s a simple recipe to make them at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the batter:
    • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
    • Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The batter should be smooth, but not too thick. If it’s too thick, add a bit more milk to loosen it up.
  2. Heat the oil:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet over medium heat. The oil should be about 350°F (175°C). You can test the temperature by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil. If it bubbles and rises to the surface, the oil is ready.
  3. Fry the funnel cake bites:
    • Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry the dough balls for about 2-3 minutes, turning them until they are golden brown and crispy.
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove the funnel cake bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar:
    • While the funnel cake bites are still warm, dust them generously with powdered sugar. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor, if desired.
  5. Serve and enjoy:
    • Serve the funnel cake bites immediately while they’re warm and crispy. You can dip them in chocolate sauce, caramel, or even fruit preserves if you like!

Tips:

  • For a fun twist, you can add chocolate chips or sprinkles to the batter before frying.
  • These funnel cake bites are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a day. Reheat them in the oven to restore their crispiness.

Enjoy your homemade funnel cake bites!
